The team at AKTrevision.com continuely try and develop new innovative questions based on the latest evidence. Our sources are NICE, the BMJ, BJGP, Cochrane reviews and other evidence based articles. In addition, we make further questions based on areas of difficulty in previous exams.

Through correspondance and feedback we have found the areas causing particular problems for candidates are:

• neonatology
• sexual health in particular contraception choices
• evidence based medicine and qualitative study methods
• state benefits and forms
• paediatrics especially paediatric dermatology and child health issues
• palliative care
• common ENT conditions

Further questions have recently been added looking into these areas of difficulty. We encourage candidates to view the full feedback for each exam on the college website.

A helpful article has come to light in the BJGP, February 2009. It is entitled "Performance and views of examiners in the Applied Knowledge Test for the nMRCGP licensing examination". It looked objectively at the validity of the AKT exam and is well worth a read, for further information.
